Literature & the Catholic Mind: The Path of Virtue
Wednesday evenings 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the parish center hall starting February 10 Facilitated by Seminarian Michael Hoye, STB.
Christ possessed all the virtues, perfectly. He is the way to the Father (Jn. 14:6). The path of virtue is Christ’s path, our return home to God. By His grace and creating wisdom, virtue helps translate our faith into a lived reality. Virtuous Christians live with Christ and for the sake of Christ because he is our greatest friend.
Flannery O’Conner wrote in a letter: "Fiction is the concrete expression of mystery-mystery that is lived. Catholics believe that all creation is good and that evil is the wrong use of good and that without Grace we use it wrong most of the time.”
Beginning on February 10, we will learn about the virtues from both a theological perspective and how they are presented to us in literature. We will discuss the virtues in order to use the goods of God’s creation in the right way, in the right amount, and at the right time.
Attendance is limited to 10 persons, sign up below or call the parish office at 508-278-2226.
