As part of an effort to develop more effective, disciple-making youth ministry at Saint Mary Church, we have improved our approach to formation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Our goal is to offer your child a powerful, life-changing encounter with Jesus Christ as he or she prepares to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Formation for Confirmation extends over two years. The first year is the Discipleship year. During this year, students will be introduced to the richness of our Catholic Tradition, including service to the poor, prayer, beauty in art, music, and architecture, etc. At the same time, they will explore some of life's most pressing questions such as, "What is my pupose in life?" and "Why is there a God?"
At the end of the Discipleship year, students will participate in a retreat during which they will discern their response to the question: "Do I desire to be a disciple of Jesus Christ?" If yes, then the student will continue
on to the second year of formation for Confirmation, which utilizes
the Chosen program offered by Ascension Press. This program has
been carefully designed to address and answer your child's
fundamental questions about life, and to challenge him or her to
further embrace a life of faith.
